Description
Glutathione (GSH) is the tripeptide gamma-L-glutamyl-L-cysteinyl-glycine and the most abundant non-protein thiol in mammalian cells, cycling between its reduced (GSH) and oxidised (GSSG) forms.
It is used in laboratory studies of redox balance, reactive-oxygen-species scavenging and glutathione peroxidase and S-transferase enzyme activity, and as a reference reagent in oxidative-stress assays.
