Description
MOTS-c is a 16-amino-acid peptide (MRWQEMGYIFYPRKLR) encoded by a short open reading frame within the mitochondrial 12S rRNA gene, one of a family of mitochondrial-derived peptides.
It is studied in laboratory models of AMPK activation, folate-methionine cycle regulation, mitochondrial-to-nuclear signalling and cellular stress responses, primarily in cell culture and rodent models.
