Description

Tirzepatide (LY3298176) is a synthetic 39-amino-acid peptide built on the native GIP sequence and acylated with a C20 diacid lipid moiety. It is a dual agonist at the glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide receptor (GIPR) and the glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor (GLP-1R).

It is studied in receptor-binding and cAMP-signalling assays, in pancreatic islet and beta-cell models and in preclinical models of glucose homeostasis. It has been evaluated in the SURPASS and SURMOUNT clinical development programmes.
